Surya Incense Ingredients
Hand rolled incense is an Indian cottage industry. Surya’s ten incense scents are only made from century-old formulas and sold by stick count for better value. The stick count varies, because Darbari incense contains essential oils, which produces a heavier stick than the dry mixture in the Masala incense. The ten unique scents are a natural blend of Ayurvedic herbs and aromatic botanical extracts. All ingredients are kneaded into a sticky dough-like mixture then rolled individually onto eight-inch bamboo sticks. The unique formulas use only the finest oils, flowers, spices, gums and resins, which may include: sandalwood, rose, jasmine, vetiver and lemongrass oils; marigold, carnation, bergamot, chamomile, hibiscus flowers; cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and vanilla spices; and binders such as amber, cedar wood, myrrh, jaggery and benzoin. The sandalwood oil and powder used is purchased from the Sandalwood Oil Factory run by the State government of Karnataka, South India. No charcoal is used in Surya’s incense.

Dear Surya,
“I received my incense order last week and wanted to get in touch again to let you know how satisfied I am. I may never buy another brand of incense ever again in my life. I am so impressed with your business ethic and ecological responsibility! I love the information provided about the details of making incense and the properties of each of the scents… The incense smells lovely with no artificial additives or chemical fragrances, which is totally important to my air quality and that of the atmosphere. I cannot say enough about how great it is to know you are there for those times when l want to burn incense and not pollute my air nor contribute to the demise of the planet nor its people. Keep up the outstanding work!”
Thank you, Maggie
